Oparanya took his guests on a tour of his homestead
Cooperatives and MSMEs Cabinet Secretary Wycliffe Oparanya has been entrusted with the role of political advisor to the family of founding Vice President Jaramogi Oginga Odinga. This was revealed when Luo community figures Raila Odinga Jr. and Joako Oburu Odinga visited Oparanya at his Mabole home in Butere Constituency, Kakamega County, on Sunday, 4th October 2026.
During the visit, Oparanya took his guests on a tour of his homestead, including the bedroom where the late former Prime Minister Raila Odinga used to stay during his visits to Kakamega. Oparanya said the room will remain reserved for the current family patriarch, Dr. Oburu Oginga, who is the party leader , in honor of the late ODM Raila Odinga.
“The family has requested me to officially give the room to Oburu Oginga, who is now free to use it” Oparanya added. He further reiterated his commitment to working closely with the Jaramogi family to strengthen the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party to form a potential coalition towards 2027. “We shall work together for the benefit of the two communities and also for the benefit of ODM to make sure that it becomes a strong party to form a coalition in 2027” Oparanya said.

The meeting was also attended by Members of Parliament Christopher Aseka (Khwisero), Bernard Shinali (Ikolomani) and Raphael Wanjala (Budalangi), who lauded Oparanya’s leadership and urged him to collaborate with Oburu in advancing the party’s unity and growth. The above occasion happens a few days before the Commemoration of the late Raila Odinga (Baba) at Bukhungu Stadium on Friday, the 9th, 2026, as it had been communicated by the Kakamega County Governor Fernandes Barasa on Saturday last week.
