Former Chief Justice David Maraga, now serving as the party leader of UGM, has raised concerns over President William Ruto’s plan to borrow additional funds to boost the national economy. Speaking during a political tour in Busia town, where he officially opened the UGM party office, Maraga emphasized that the President must first account for the trillions of shillings already borrowed.

Maraga accused senior government officials of misusing public funds, pointing to widespread corruption within the current administration. He noted that this has left many Kenyans struggling in poverty and frustration.
During his address, Maraga also highlighted his intention to vie for the presidency in 2027, joining other political leaders positioning themselves for the upcoming race.
