Vihiga Governor Wilberforce Otichilo has described this year’s Labour Day celebrations as historic for Vihiga County and Kenya as a whole as he said it is a major milestone that reflects the country’s commitment to inclusivity and devolution.
Speaking during the event, Otichilo noted that this is the first time Labour Day has been celebrated outside Nairobi since independence adding that the move brings national celebrations closer to citizens across different regions of the country.
The governor added that hosting the event in Vihiga has boosted morale among workers in the region.
He further called on the national government to continue strengthening devolution by rotating national events across counties saying according to him, such steps promote unity and ensure fair distribution of national attention and development.
