Western leaders yesterday, on 28th August 2026, organized an event to empower boda boda operators and women’s groups from Marenyo, located in Marenyo-Shianda Ward in Butere Constituency, Kakamega County.
The event was led by the area Member of Parliament, Tindi Mwale, and Presidential Aide Farouk Kibet, among other leaders who used the occasion to praise President William Ruto’s administration for supporting farmers in reducing the price of fertilizer from Ksh 2,500 to Ksh 2,000 saying that commending that lowering of fertilizer prices will increase productivity in the farm and reduce costs.

On the other hand, National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetangula urged the people of Western Kenya to unite with the aim of forming the next government after the reign of President William Ruto. He criticized the opposition for interfering with the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC), insisting that the commission should be allowed to discharge its mandate in accordance with the law and be free from intimidation.
“The kind of election that will be held in 2027 is what will vindicate what these people are saying, so IEBC, don’t fear anything do your work diligently constitutionally,” Wetang’ula reiterated. He also promised Butere residents that the broad-based government has planned to boost the region economically by constructing a standard gauged railway, which will pass through Narok, Kisumu, Lwanda, ,Butere and the Malaba border in Busia, he affirmed that once the railway is completed the residents will benefit economically via business and employment .

The event was also graced by Kericho Senator Alan Cheruiyot, who called upon emerging political leaders to respect their seniors in politics. You can’t compare your broadened chest and a one-term period in parliament and think that you are old enough in politics our elderly leaders like “Papa wa Roma’ and Oparanya must be respected because they have more experience” Cheruiyot advised.
Bungoma Senator David Wakoli also used the platform to emphasize the need for the Mulembe community to remain united in preparation for the 2032 leadership succession after president Ruto’s governance.
