The Confederation of African Football has assured Kenya that the country will remain a co-host of the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations. The organization has asked Kenyans to stay confident even though some reports have suggested that Kenya might lose its hosting rights.

CAF Director of Communications Luxolo September shared this message. He said that CAF President Patrice Motsepe has confidence in East Africa’s ability to organize the football event. September asked Kenyans, including journalists to have faith in the country’s work and support the efforts to make the competition a success.

Kenya will share the hosting duties of the 2027 AFCON with Uganda and Tanzania. This is a chance for East Africa to host Africa’s biggest national team football event. The three countries are expected to work as a team to make the tournament happen. This event will bring together some of the national teams and players from across the continent.

There are worries about how fast the stadiums are being built and renovated, as well as the development of other needed infrastructure in the three countries. These worries have led to talk that CAF might change the hosting plan.

Even though there is uncertainty CAF has not said that the three countries will no longer host the event as of October 20 2026. Motsepe still believes in the work being done in East Africa. He has said that the organization is committed to the region.

Kenya’s work will be watched closely as the country makes sure that its stadiums and other important facilities meet the standards set by CAF before the tournament.

The next few months will be very important for Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania. They need to show that they are ready to host the 2027 AFCON and make the event a success for fans of football, in Africa.

For Kenya keeping the hosting role would be a chance to show off its sports facilities bring in visitors from countries and help boost tourism and the economy through football.
