Western Kenya youths receive the second phase of NYOTA funds.

A section of youths from Western Kenya counties, Bungoma, Kakamega, Busia and Vihiga, received financial support through the NYOTA Programme’s second phase disbursement at Masinde Muliro University on 10th July 2026.

The event was presided over by Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi, Kakamega Governor Fernandes Barasa, PS for higher education Beatrice Inyangala and other leaders. During the launch, Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi, who is also the cabinet secretary for foreign and diaspora affairs, urged the NYOTA beneficiaries to invest their funds in viable firms, noting that the NYOTA Programme is intended to uplift young people economically.
“As the government under President William Ruto, we have aimed at creating jobs, growing your enterprises and also empowering you as youth to grow economically,” he said.

On the same function, Kakamega Governor Fernandes Barasa announced that Kakamega County will implement President Ruto’s initiative in waiving single business permit fees for NYOTA Programme beneficiaries for years, respectively.

Speaking during the second launch of NYOTA, Barasa said the waiver will help young business starters to grow their businesses by easing the cost of selling their commodities .

Additionally, in Ulinzi Sports Complex, Lang’ata constituency, Nairobi County, President William Ruto launched the NYOTA Programme to over 122,000 young entrepreneurs with over Sh. 3 billion across the country; each youth received Sh. 25,000 via their M-Pesa directly, summing a total of Sh. 50,000 since the first launch of the National Youth Opportunities Towards Advancement (NYOTA).

The beneficiaries who received NYOTA funds rejoiced, thanking the Kenya Kwanza regime for supporting, empowering, and training the young people to thrive in business.
