The High Court has extended conservatory orders that prevent the establishment of a proposed US-linked Ebola quarantine facility in Laikipia County, and it has ordered the Kenyan government to publicly disclose project information.

Justice Patricia Nyaundi requested that the government release all contracts within seven days, biosafety and health assessments, licenses, and operational guidelines about the contentious project. Additionally, until the lawsuit is resolved, the hospital is not allowed to admit or transfer anyone who has been exposed to Ebola into Kenya.

The decision was made a day after hundreds of locals demonstrated against the establishment of a 50-bed quarantine facility for Americans exposed to Ebola in Uganda and the Democratic Republic of the Congo at Laikipia Air Base. Protesters asserted that the facility may endanger the health of nearby residents and that officials had failed to effectively consult with the public.
