A stolen cow in East Karateng’ sub-location, Kisumu West Sub-County, sparked outrage after residents torched houses linked to the main suspect, Kevin Okuku alias “Wakawaka.”
The cow was later recovered in Chulaimbo at the home of Mathayo Magana, who told police that Kevin had asked him to keep it temporarily while arranging transport. Police arrested Mathayo and Nicole Mapesa, while Kevin Okuku and Ochieng’ Nyamanga remain at large.
Two transporters had earlier declined requests to move the cow due to lack of authorization and suspicion of theft. A watchman also reported encountering the suspects at around 2:00 a.m., where they claimed that were seeking transport for a sick person.
