Two hundred and ten (210) residents of Shianda in Mumias East Constituency, the majority being young people received motorcycle and motor vehicle driving certificates courtesy of Mumias East MP Peter Salasya through the NG-CDF kitty.

Speaking during the graduation and certificate presentation ceremony held in Shianda, Hon. Salasya thanked the residents for their continued support and pledged to continue empowering the youth through driving courses and other development initiatives as a token of appreciation for electing him as their leader .
He urged the youth to have a vision and the right drive in life to achieve their goals, noting that a driving license is not just a certificate but an economic tool that can put food on the table. This is just the beginning. “We will have another training for Class B with the support of CDF committee. I urge the youth to have a vision and the right drive in life”. Salasya advised.

He is also afirmed that 400 new more residents applied to persue driving courses. ” I remain committed to empowering our constituents with practical, marketable skills in driving, electrical work, masonry, fashion and design, carpentry, painting, mechanics, ICT, and other technical fields. Together, we are equipping our youth with skills, opportunities, and a pathway to a better future.” Salasya reiterated.
The event was also attended by Mumias East Deputy County Commissioner (DCC) Beatrice Odira and NG-CDF board officials, addressing the graduands, DCC Odira emphasized the importance of education and called upon young women to also embrace driving as a career, saying driving should not be seen as a male-only profession. She further urged the newly certified drivers to exercise caution on the roads and strictly observe traffic rules and regulations to help reduce road accidents in the region.

On the ongoing heavy rains, DCC Odira warned residents in flood-prone areas of Mumias East to remain vigilant following the El Niño advisory. She also urged parents to support their children who are candidates for this year’s national examination by providing necessary exam equipment for smooth preparedness.
