Spain’s side were deserved winners after controlling possession, creating 20 total attempts and 12 shots on target and producing one of the best defensive campaigns in World Cup history. Spain conceded just one goal in the entire tournament, the fewest by any World Cup-winning team extending their unbeaten run in all competitions to 38 matches, the longest ever recorded by a European or South American national team.
Rodri was named the Best Player of the Tournament after a brilliant midfield display, while goalkeeper Unai Simon received the Golden Glove award following a campaign in which Spain conceded only one goal in eight matches.
Kylian Mbappe won the Golden Boot after finishing as the tournament’s leading scorer with 10 goals, becoming the first player to win the World Cup Golden Boot twice following his success in Qatar in 2022.

England won the third place playoff after defeating France 6 goals to 4 in a thrilling encounter where Bukayo Saka scored a hat trick for England with goals from Declan Rice, Ezri Konsa and Jude Bellingham, making it six, while France’s goals were scored by Michael Olise, Barcola and Kylian Mbappe, who scored a brace.
