Head of public service Felix Koskei watering a tree he planted at Masinde Muliro University on 11th July 2026Government public service officials on 11th July 2026 toured Kakamega County for a professional meeting that happened in three phases simultaneously. The officials present were Chief of Staff and Head of Public Service Felix Koskei, Principal Secretary for the state department of Higher Education and Research Beatrice Inyangala, Principal Secretary for Mining Harry Kimtai, Principal Secretary for Industries Juma Mukhwana, and Ambassador. For immigration and tourism, Julius Bitok among other officials.
The first meeting entailed young professional people where a discussion of opportunity availability to youth was addressed, progress they can make, challenges affecting implementation on the ground, and how the National Government can ensure its helpful programs to respond effectively to the needs and aspirations of the young people.

During the meeting, Principal Secretary for Mining Harry Kimtai urged Kakamega youths to embrace permit applications for artisanal mining, saying his office issues gold mining permits that last for 5 years.
”Luos, Ugandans, and ‘Wanyarwandans’ are nowadays in Kakamega mining sites simply because they have skills more than you guys, who are the owners of gold in this region. I need you guys to get better too so that you can make money from gold mining,” Kimtai said.
Ps for mining Harry Kimtai during the Professionals meeting in KakamegaOn matters tourism PS for immigration and tourism prof.Julius Bitok stated that Kenyan Government has a received 2.7 million tourists from various countries and he further added that at the end of this year (2026) they have targeted 5 million tourists.
Bitok challenged youth by telling them to be more creative as far as tourism is concerned. “For your information tourism does not require a lot of investments , it only requires critical thinking ” He said. He also added that almost 50 percent of the Kenyan budget have been going to young people either indirectly or directly pointing out the NYOTA fund program.
Ambassador for Immigration and tourism Prof.Julius Bitok addressing professionals in KakamegaAfter the first meeting, the same officials talked to elderly people from the 12 constituency of Kakamega county head of public service Felix Kosgei encouraged the elders to continue providing moral leadership and education, promoting peaceful engagements , mentoring young people and working closely with Government to support the implementation of development programmes successfully. “We are in a society knowdays where most young people do not even know their community culture ,I urge you to guide them so that the other generation will be guided through them” he said. The elders also raised their voices through their chairman Eliud Muchira by telling officials to work closely with the western elders .

“Arise and take charge of our country from looting and corruption” Kosgei said. He also explained more about the benefits of Gold mining to the people of Kakamega saying that not only the Ikolomani residents will benefit from the commercial mining but also the county Government and the National government will benefit in royalties.
