Kakamega Governor Fernandes Barasa issuing social protection grants cheques at Bunyala Central in Navakholo on 17th August 2026
Governor Fernandes Barasa on 17th of August 2026, flagged off KSh 60 million in social protection grants at Navakholo Stadium, Bunyala Central Ward. The grants targeted women, youth, widows, persons living with disabilities and other marginalized groups in all the 12 constituencies.
Navakholo Constituency received KSh 5 million. Each of the 5 wards will get a share of KSh 1 million to support 20 groups with KSh 50,000 each. He announced that 540 grouped women have been targeted: 300 single mothers groups, 240 youth groups and 120 people with disabilities groups, summing up to a total of 1,200 groups.
Barasa said that the funds will boost small businesses, strengthen household incomes, and promote economic independence for communities often left behind.
He further used the grants congregation to elaborate on his completed projects, including modern ECDE classrooms in various schools in the county and also urged them to support his re-election in 2027, counterattacking his opponents as weak and incompetent to unseat him in the next general elections.

The event was graced by various county assembly leaders and county staffs, including Benjamin Were for Bunyala Central Ward and Gildon Shioso for Butsotso South, among others who praised the governor for the grant launch, saying it will benefit the targeted groups economically.
