Tusker FC produced an entertaining comeback to defeat Gor Mahia 3-2 in a pre-season friendly played at Nyayo National Stadium on Sunday morning, 20th September 2026 , as both Kenyan giants stepped up their preparations ahead of the new season 2026/2027 The match provided an important opportunity for both teams to assess their squads, test different combinations and give players valuable minutes ahead of the competitive campaign.
Unlike a standard 90-minute fixture, the encounter was played over four 30-minute quarters, allowing the technical teams to manage playing time and make tactical adjustments throughout the match.
Gor Mahia started brightly and were rewarded for their efforts when Ben Stanley opened the scoring in the 34th minute. The goal gave the reigning Kenyan football giants an early advantage as they looked to maintain control of the contest. Tusker, however, responded strongly after the break and found their equalizer through Victor Mbaoma in the 47th minute. The striker’s effort brought the Brewers back into the game and increased the intensity of the contest.
Gor Mahia regained the lead in the 64th minute when Denis Omedi found the back of the net, putting his side 2-1 ahead. Tusker once again had to respond, and they did so through Mbaoma, who completed his brace from the penalty spot in the 77th minute to make it 2-2. With both sides pushing for a winning goal, the decisive moment arrived in the 99th minute. Eric Kapaito struck for Tusker to complete the comeback and give the Brewers a 3-2 victory.
