On Friday, June 26, 2026, Kenya will celebrate the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking (IDADA) nationwide at the NACADA Miritini Treatment and Rehabilitation Center in Mombasa.

While improving community-focused and creative approaches to address the problem, the nation continues to confront changing patterns of substance misuse.

The 2026 global theme, “World Drug Problem: Persisting Issues, New Challenges, Innovative Responses,” highlights the significance of implementing novel approaches to combat drug and substance misuse in the face of changing threats.

The event will also highlight how crucial it is for communities, governmental organizations, and other stakeholders to support recovery efforts and adjust to shifting drug use trends.

As the event preparations draw to a close, attention turns to Mombasa, where participants are expected to reiterate their commitment to cutting-edge strategies for preventing substance misuse and creating a strong, drug-free community.
