FIFA has officially imposed a transfer ban on the Tunisian club Etoile Sportive du Sahel following their failure to pay Gor Mahia KSh5.1 million for the transfer of defender Alphonce Omija. The ruling comes after the Kenyan champions pursued the matter with the world football governing body citing that the agreed-upon fee from Omija’s move last year had never been settled. As a result, Etoile is now prohibited from registering any new players both domestically and internationally, a move that effectively freezes their ability to strengthen their squad.
According to the directive sent to both clubs, the ban will remain in force until the debt is paid in full. FIFA has further stipulated that the sanction could last for up to three consecutive registration periods if the financial obligations are not met.
